  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
  • 1 pkg. (10-1/2 oz.) miniature marshmallows
  • 1 pkg. (16 oz.) Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam, jelly or preserves


  1. Line 15x10x1-inch pan with foil. Lightly grease foil; set aside. Melt butter in large saucepan on low heat. Add marshmallows; cook until melted, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in cereal. Press firmly into prepared pan; cool completely.
  2. Remove formed cereal mixture from pan by turning pan upside down on cutting board. Remove pan; peel off foil. Cut in half lengthwise. Spread one half with peanut butter; spread other half with jam. Stack halves, peanut butter and jelly sides together, to form sandwich.
  3. Cut into 36 squares to serve. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature.

Tips and Suggestions

Variation: Omit the jam. Prepare and press cereal mixture into pan as directed; cool completely. Unmold formed cereal mixture from pan and cut lengthwise into 2 halves as directed. Spread each half with 1/2 cup peanut butter. Cover one of the halves with sliced bananas, sliced strawberries or coconut, then stack and cut into squares as directed.

Family Fun: For a kid-friendly shape, cut the cereal treat squares diagonally in half to make triangles.

Substitute: Prepare as directed, using your favorite flavor of jam, jelly or preserves.
